Dr. Ralph de la Torre is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Steward, a community-based accountable care organization that offers a full range of health care services to patients in Massachusetts. Steward includes 3,000 physicians, 10 hospital campuses, 24 affiliated urgent care providers, 6 ambulatory surgery centers, home care, hospice and other services. The system earns nearly $2.4 billion in net patient service revenues and serves more than one million patients annually in more than 150 communities. Dr. de la Torre was previously the CEO of Caritas Christi Health Care, where he led the transformation of the six-hospital system, restoring it to profitability while simultaneously improving the quality of patient care. Before joining Caritas Christi, Dr. de la Torre was the founder and CEO of the Cardiovascular Institute at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC). At the same time, Dr. de la Torre was the Chief of Cardiac Surgery at BIDMC, as well as for the Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at BIDMC, where he was widely recognized as one of the top cardiac surgeons in his field.
